UI/UX Design: My New Orleans Travel Guide

I documented my journey to New Orleans using photos I took. I created a website to provide tips and insights for those planning to visit New Orleans in the future. The guide is divided into four sections, and I designed versions for desktop, mobile, and tablet to ensure a seamless user experience across different devices.

Software: Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, VsCode

1.Project Background

This project began as a personal travel journal documenting my trip to New Orleans. However, instead of creating a simple photo archive, I wanted to design an immersive digital experience that feels like walking through the city — discovering places, stories, and memories step by step.

2.Design Goal

My goal was to transform travel memories into an interactive storytelling website that is:

  • easy to navigate

  • visually warm and inviting

  • readable across devices

  • emotionally engaging rather than informational only

3.Target Users

I identified three main user groups:

  1. Travelers planning a trip to New Orleans

  2. Friends or visitors casually browsing photos and stories

  3. Users exploring the site on mobile during short moments (commuting, resting, etc.)

4. Research Methods

To better understand user behavior, I conducted:

  • Competitive analysis of travel blogs and tourism websites

  • Navigation pattern observation (how users scroll and skim content)

  • Mobile-first testing for readability

  • Information hierarchy mapping

Insight

Many tourism websites feel informational but cold. Users connect more with personal stories and atmosphere.

Design Response
→ Soft colors
→ Blurred backgrounds
→ Large photography
→ First-person storytelling tone

Below are selected screens and interface explorations that demonstrate the structure, visual system, and user experience of the travel guide across different devices.
